The MEA is currently in the initiation phase. The first of our activities was to study the markets for various forms of energy in Mumbai, and assess the potential for energy efficiency and energy conservation. The study was titled: Mumbai Energy Conservation Market Characterization.
A summary of the market characterization report includes an overview of the electricity demand and supply situation in Mumbai, players in the energy conservation market and relevant state and central initiatives. It lays out the energy conservation potential by sector, along with the cumulative investment cost, energy savings and reduction in carbon emissions. To give an idea of the extent of the potential for meeting the gap between demand and supply through efficiency- a pipeline of projects proposed by the MEA is expected to lead to 1,900 MkWh energy savings in Mumbai, and a commensurate reduction of 13 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
A summary of the report is now available for download here, after entering your name and contact details.
